Version 1.2.1 Released! Final Update!


Hello everyone! At long last, the final (hopefully) update for Noel and the Tower of Doom is finally here! Due to continued backlash against the character of Punchy, even following intensive redesigns, I have decided to completely remove that character and all mention of him from the entirely of the game. In his place is "The Worldleech", a new boss/character that serves as both the first boss of the game and a difficult post-game encounter in his true form, Mangan-Jagad. I hope you will enjoy this new character's inclusion.

In other words, many other fixes and changes have been made to the game in this newest update, including at long last finishing the final secret ending. Along with that, all enemies and bosses have had their levels, stats, and EXP/JP/Money rates drastically rebalanced to account for a new, more balanced level-curve that more accurately reflects the party's level progression. Here is the total changelog for v1.2. If you're wondering why the update listed is 1.2 instead of 1.2.1, well, we'll get to that.

New Features

-Finished the final secret ending.


Changes

-Completely removed punchy from the game. This also includes removing the Punchy and Angelica EX fight from the game as well.

-The fight with Punchy on Floor 10 has been replaced with a fight with a new boss/character, the "Worldleech".

-The Punchy + Angelica EX fight in Hubbaoth in the secret depths has been replaced with a fight against Mangan-Jagad, the Worldleech's true form.

-New enemy arts have been added for the new bosses.

-A lot of database items have been rearranged.

-Enemy stat values have been drastically rebalanced.

-Enemy and boss levels have been drastically rebalanced to be more consistent across the entire game. (no more huge level jumps)

-Enemy EXP, JP, and $ rates have been drastically rebalanced.

-Enemies now have new movesets.

-Talent Arts have been renamed to "S-Talents."

-Divine Arts have been renamed to "Talent Arts" and now have a "[T]" indicator next to their name to mark them as a talent art.

-S-Talents also have a mark, an "[ST]" symbol next to their name. These changes make the game consistent with the upcoming Chronicles Meteorfall.

-Bubbles will not act while Blake is active and is buffed, making her fight significantly easier and more manageable.

-The first and second forms of the regular final boss are counted as separate fights, so if you lose to one you don't have to retry from the beginning.

-The standard bad ending is now obtained from refusing to retry a battle rather than losing to the final boss.

-The bad endings for losing to the secret bosses now only trigger if you refuse to retry their fights. The exception is Motormouth who will give you the standard bad ending for not retrying after losing to him, but if you are killed by his "Tick Tick Boom" attack than you don't get a chance to retry and you automatically get a bad ending.

-The game over sequence has been massively overhauled to instead be event-based rather than done automatically with the plugin.

-A lot of dialogue has been rewritten to accommodate for the removal of Punchy and the addition of the Worldleech.

-Added a new boss theme for Mangan-Jagad.

-Blue Magick has been changed to Enemy Arts.

-Magistrate has less phantasmal summons due to Punchy being deleted. Therefore both the order, amount, and timing of his summons has been changed.

-Unnecessary/filler assets have been removed. (dummied gorgon enemy, dummied orbs for the true final boss, etc)

-Bubbles no longer acts twice.


Bugfixes

-More spelling errors fixed.

-Fixed bug where the fires ontop of the pillars in the NEVI Storehouse and THE DOOR would be under the pillars and not over.

-Fixed some instances of the streamer mode songs not playing, mainly in the endings and the Babiberg and Brutalist Helberg fights.

-Fixed bug where fighting Babiberg would change the normal battle theme to the first theme rather than the second theme.

-The bad endings now play properly and transition correctly into the final scene.

-Wild's Outrage move now functions as originally intended.

As noted before, this is the changelog for v1.2, not v1.2.1, the newest, and hopefully final, version you're seeing now. This is because last night (Jan 28th 2025) at around 10:00 PM EST I uploaded v1.2, but the update was incomplete! Many of the changes that were going to be made in 1.2 I forgot to do, leaving the game broken and unfinished. Therefore, I spent the next 2.5 hours until 12:30 AM in the morning fixing these bugs and unfinished content and releasing v1.2.1 to the public. However, for some reason my PC suspends all Wi-Fi connection starting at 12:00 AM, so the upload didn't go through while I slept as I hoped, forcing me to actually release this update just now at around 6:00 PM on Jan 29th, 2025. Here is the additional changelog for v1.2.1.

Additional 1.2.1 Changes

-The EX bosses now drop a second copy of their boss equipment. Mangan-Jagad drops both the Ki Fists (his own weapon) and the Adrestia. (Angelica's Weapon)

-Removed the last mentions of punchy from the game. (Ki Fists description and the secret reports.)


Additional 1.2.1 Bugfixes

-Fixed boss stats.

-Fixed boss EXP/JP/Bx Rates.

-Fixed boss movesets.

-Made bosses immune to instant kill and gravity like before.

-Lowered level of EX bosses dramatically to match the level curve.

-Gave Mangan-Jagad an actual moveset and stats.

-Lowered Brutalist Hellberg's level to Lv100.

-Fixed bug where the Worldleech would not drop the Ki Fists, making it impossible to progress to the true ending.

Well, it's been a long and crazy journey for this game, from it's shaky AI generated roots to the racism controversy to what we have now: a solid, if somewhat shitposty, RPG and a worthy follow up to Chronicles The Lost Page and predecessor to Chronicles Meteorfall. At long last, the game is finally finished. No more glitches, no more balancing issues, no more racism allegations. Everything is as it should be, and hopefully no one gets offended at my game and lashes out anymore. Thanks for following this game from it's shaky roots to it's conclusion, and hopefully you all have a blast playing the finished work at long last.
