Crypt Challenge

This is the original version of Crypt Challenge, made in 2015 for the RMN Birthday Event. It is quite bad. I am only posting this game for preservation's sake. Do not go in expecting some sort of epic quest. There will be cringe, and there will be dead memes. Like, 2012 montage parody memes. Yes, I was beyond cringe back then. What can I say? I literally just discovered memes and internet culture. I was definitely behind the times. I made this game in just 3 hours so it's not really the highest quality. Still impressive that I got literally EVERYTHING done in that short of a time.  This game involves the "super challenge" bonus rules in the event, which require that you only have 3 of multiple different things in the game. This includes:

• 3 Items!
• 3 Weapons!
• 3 Armors!
• 3 Enemies!
• 3 Skills!
• 3 Battles!
• A 3x3 Map!
• 3 characters! (sorta...)
• 3 music tracks!
• and 3 scripts!

Here is the plot. None of this is said in game by the way. That breaks the rules of the event. This game takes place in the realm of Anima sometime before Draco Anima Origins, a realm that was destroyed by the god of evil Elzakalas eons before Zutara first came into being. The events featured here would be later reborn in the events of Crypt Challenge DX and EX within the world of Zutara. Anyways, the plot:

Renn lives in the small hamlet of Estia Town, living out his days in peace. That is until a deadly plague sweeps across his village. An ancient sage then informs him about a magical relic called the Flamelight Amulet, a special charm that can ward off disease. After traveling far, he comes across another town. He then visits the inn, where the kind innkeeper tells him were the firelight amulet is. It is in the dark catacombs of Arkenrot, a  very spooky place that is said to be haunted by ghosts. After getting magical silver armor and a silver sword from the innkeeper, Renn finds a mysterious girl by the road. She says her name is Cilith and the she is a witch who can track ghosts, asking $15 for her services. Renn Accepts and they both head to the catacombs. On the way, Cilith tells Renn about the king of specters, the Lich. She tells Renn that the Lich's power is so great that he could spread plague across the world with a single gaze. Because the evil Lich wanted to cause as much carnage as possible, he stole the flamelight amulet and hid it in his catacombs, the only hope for banishing the Lich's plague inducing stare. Finally, the two heroes find the catacombs and they walk in, hand in hard....

I hope you enjoy this little time capsule back to the ye-old days of the pre-tumblr purge internet, where MLG memes were still funny, twitter was actually good and indie, YTPs were still the peak of internet humor, where the American right wasn't completely consumed with facism, before the Nintendo Switch or Undertale released, and when Barrack Obama was still president.
